Software Test Engineer (Position Open)

Job Overview

The Software Test Engineer is a key member of the team of dedicated product development professionals to produce high quality software in a collaborative environment. This position will require you to use a variety of technical and analytical tools to test and verify that systems meet specifications and perform their intended business function. This person will report to the Director of Operations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with project leaders and senior developers to implement and continuously improve the Quality Assurance program

  • Provide overall ownership of the Quality Assurance program and its related processes and procedures

  • Understand and identify test environment and resource requirements

  • Plan, schedule, and perform tests that address functional, regression, security, and performance with an understanding of required data and expected results

  • Manage all test assets to support the software testing process including a strategy for identifying risk, prioritizing testing activities, and communicating testing metrics

  • Maintain a prioritized test coverage matrix that is used throughout the development lifecycle, and in the QA summary to support test planning and execution decisions

  • Review and provide input to business requirements, functionality details, and acceptance criteria to make sure they are complete, testable, and not ambiguous

  • Document issues in a manner that minimizes the communication loop by providing the detail necessary to accurately triage and focus development effort on the most efficient resolution

  • Document test activities and make an informed decision on the quality of the product throughout the development lifecycle and communicate that clearly to team members and stakeholders

  • Coordinate release testing efforts

  • Perform analysis of issues for triage purposes

  • Facilitate the creation and implementation of a test automation framework 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Computer Science degree or related analytical and technical experience

  • Knowledge of testing techniques (e.g., exploratory, black box, white box, boundary, service level, etc.) and the acumen to apply them as appropriate to solve complex testing problems 

  • Experience with performance and load testing tools

  • Intermediate technical skills in SQL

  • Knowledge of the Microsoft development platform

  • Experience with Azure DevOps a plus

  • Knowledge of UI automation, database query/analysis, and methods of file comparison

  • Selenium experience a plus

  • In depth knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Self-driven and motivated, eager to learn and understand the Hive Platform

  • Curious, observant, analytical, innovative, intuitive, and detailed oriented

  • Strong communication, time management, scheduling, and estimating skills 

  • Able to work closely with developers while also pushing back when features do not meet requirements
